Meet
Jay & Robin
A Gray Area: a field not readily conforming to a category or to an existing set of rules.
Our story has never been a conventional one, so even before this blog, we were in the gray area. Childhood sweethearts, we married young and have often struggled to provide a comfortable life for our three girls. After watching our single mothers wear themselves out to care for us and our siblings, we made a conscious choice at the beginning of our relationship that this was forever. Through the bumps and bruises, we’ve worked together to guarantee that result!
Along the way, we reconnected with God and began serving in a local church. That eventually developed into both of us becoming part-time staff members and Jay being ordained. For over eight years, we invested in youth, both inside and outside the church, something that has allowed us to stay relevant to our own children as they grew into adolescence.
Our ministry has changed and grown since the first day we recognized our call to serve and so has our understanding of God’s word. Acts 2:44 – 47 says, “And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
The church in Acts was a community of people, not a building where people meet like modern churches have become. Although we still attend and serve in a local church, our ministry has moved beyond those walls.
This journey we are on will have many layers as we Explore Faith, Family and Community. We hope you’ll join us…In The Gray Area.
